Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)

I trained at the Christie Hospital with Sally Kay. Sally researched and developed a unique sequence, whilst working in Cancer Care, which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body.

So what is Lymphoedema - it is defined as tissue swelling due to the failure of lymph drainage. There can be both psychological or emotional difficulties due to altered body image which can result from experiencing a swollen limb and/or trunk. Direct contact with the sites of Lymphoedema can be emotionally uncomfortable and painful. With RLD, I still access the Lymphatic System but through the feet therefore all that is removed is the shoes and socks.

Lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) is currently used to treat conditions other than lymphoedema, and RLD may be used similarly.

MLD may be useful with the following conditions -
